Thunder Over Michigan 2005 Page #1 Held during the weekend of August 6-7, the Yankee Air Museum at Willow Run Airport once again packed the ramp full of aircraft for their 7th annual air display. The YAM has assembled rare types of aircraft in their past shows, and this year the museum pulled together eight Boeing B-17 Flying Fortresses to highlight their event, putting them all in the air together on both days of their shows. A bonus to this was the addition of the only two flying variants of Consolidated B-24 Liberator. I've tried to represent the aircraft on these two pages with the space that I have available. Each day there was flying by almost all of the aircraft, and Friday was great for catching the arrivals. The museum is still recovering from their terrible hangar fire of 2004, but on their way to building a new facility. You can help them to rebuild, either with donations of supplies or monetary donations, please visit their website at: http://www.yankeeairmuseum.org/ As always, if you have any additional information or corrections for these pictures, let me know. All photographs were taken by Roger Cain (NC 148).
