12th Annual Boulder City Albatross Seminar 2004 From the 9th through the 18th of February, owners and fans of the Grumman HU-16 Albatrosses arrived from all over the country for flight training, advanced water handling lessons, panel discussions, and/or just for the fun of gathering and sharing information with others. The very generous Reid Dennis, with his Albatross kept at Livermore Airport, invited my wife Darlene and I along for some seaplane flying. Reid at the controls of N44RD, was the first person to circumnavigate the world in an Albatross in 1997, retracing Amelia Earhart's scheduled flight. These are just a few of the many pictures I took during our four day trip to Nevada and back. Saturday the 14th was the big day on Lake Mead. Everyone gathered at Sandy Point for a picnic, and Seaplane flying. Eight of the ten HU-16's flew out to the lake, along with a pair of Grumman Widgeons, a Piper Cub, and a bunch of Cessna and Lake Amphibians. Chuck Kimes and Ray Wolfe were instrumental in organizing this event. And Darlene and I send a special "thank you" to Reid Dennis for making flight experience possible. As always, if you have any additional information or corrections for these pictures, please let me know. There are a lot of thumb pictures on this page, so give it a minute or so to load. All photographs were taken by Roger Cain (NC 148). These photographs posted on 2-26-04 |
