Last years defending champions El Toro Guapo, returned with a catapult device that made officials nervous, thus requiring some extra anchoring to the launch ramp to ensure it wouldn’t come down on the launch team. With a drop off the pier by crewmembers, the pilot, Sean Humbert was launched through the sky for a grand distance of 61 feet, winning the coveted prize of Champion again, and the choice of a Pilots training course or $7,500. Team El Toro Guapo consists of Brent Hedgepeth, Chris Birgers, Dave Campbell, Brent Holloway, Ted Scheel, and pilot Sean Humbert. All are local to the Bay Area and grew up within a 20-mile radius of each other in Los Gatos, Saratoga and Cupertino.
