42nd Annual Watsonville, Calif. Fly-In and Air Show Held during Memorial weekend, May 26-28th, 2006, a variety of different types of aircraft and several military helicopters gathered at the Watsonville Airport near Santa Cruz. Organizers recorded 220 registered show planes, with a gate attendance of 30,000 for the three-day weekend, according to Dave Brockman, secretary and media representative for the show. Unlike the past few years, Saturday morning was free of fog, but replaced with some scattered clouds, allowing aircraft to arrive at leisure, following the directions of the temporary tower. Military participation included a Navy SH-60B Sea Hawk from NAS North Island San Diego, and a pair of US Marine CH-46E Sea Knights from MCAS Miramar. NASA brought up a Beech T-34C Mentor that flies with the Dryden Flight Research Center at Edwards AFB. My visit to this show was on Saturday only, and these are but a few of the aircraft that I photogrpahed. There is text attached to all the photographs. All photographs (digital - Canon 20D) were taken by Roger Cain (SAH 2). These photographs posted on 10-5-06 |
