39th Annual Watsonville Air Show & Fly-In 2003 Memorial Weekend, May 23-25, was the 39th Annual Air Show and Fly-In that has been held at the Watsonville Airport since 1964. Fog was the name of the game this year, hanging around until late Saturday afternoon. The air show continued slightly later than planned, but went off without a hitch. The suprise Grand Champion was Tony Banta's Curtiss P-40, this was the first time a warbird has received GC at this show. A big suprise for most people that came here was the sight of SIX McDonnell Douglas AV-8B Harriers on the ramp. Three of them flew for the show. For more on this show, see our latest newsletter, soon to be released. All photographs were taken by Roger Cain (NC 148). These photographs posted on 7-24-03 |
