West Coast National Swift Convention 2003 Held Sept 19-21, Globe and Temco built Swifts converged on Westover Field, located at Amador County Airport in the California Sierras. Aircraft came from as far away as Florida, North Carolina, Georgia and Massachusetts, to name just a few of the states. I'm not sure of what the official count may have been, but on the Saturday that I visited, 48 Swifts and one Buckaroo could be counted on the field. Not one plane was alike, as most of these have had anything from minor, to massive makeovers, customized to the pilots liking. This was a laid-back event with formation flying and training in between. As is usual, it was difficult deciding which planes to post from the group, thus it was like shuffling a deck and pulling out a small handful. Thanks to Denis Arbeau for help on the information of these beautiful aircraft. As always, if you have any additional information or corrections for these pictures, let me know. More info on this event can be found at: Globe Temco Swift Homepage. All photographs were taken by Roger Cain (NC 148). These photographs posted on 10-27-03 |
