49th Merced Antique Fly-In 2006 Still surviving after all these years, the Merced Fly-In held during the first weekend of June brought in a nice variety of aircraft, although numbers were down. Weather was great with nice blue skies, and a number of unique aircraft that weren't at Watsonville the weekend before, could be found here at Merced. As with recent past years, this show has been operated as a two day show, held Friday June 2nd and Saturday June 3rd. In addition to the aircraft on display and a very nice "Parade of Flight", a small air show was held each day, helping to bring in some of the locals to the show. A pleasant suprise during Saturdays show included several high-speed passes along with aerobatics, by Ed Shipley, with a P-51 Mustang that he was flying to Washington state for a new owner. Plans are underway for the big celebration of Merced's 50th annual fly-in, so mark it on your calendar. Below is a sampling of some of the aircraft that were in attendance. There is text attached to all the photographs. All photographs (digital - Canon 20D) were taken by Roger Cain (SAH 2). These photographs posted on 1-18-07 |
