48th Annual Merced West Coast Antique Fly-In The Merced Antique Fly-In was held as it always has been for many years, on the first weekend of June, 3- 5. Unfortunately, 150 miles to the north in Marysville, the Golden West EAA Regional Fly-In was also holding their air show on the same weekend. This obviously affected the Merced Fly-In, with a much lower aircraft count then in past years, especially with the experimentals. Classics and Antiques turned out in fair numbers, and my pictures below represent only a small portion of what could be found on the ramp for the weekend. New for Merced this year, was the return of an air show, with aerobatic performances flown by Jacquie Warda, John Nash and Robin Reid. As I wanted to hit both events, I went to Merced for the arrivals on Friday, departing for Marysville Friday evening. I'd be thin on antique biplanes if I didn't use some that have been posted at previous shows, and have tried to mix in some new attending aircraft that I haven't posted before also. My report on this event can be found in the July issue of our chapter newsletter "Touch & Go". If you have any additional information or corrections for these pictures, let me know. There is text attached to all the photographs. All text and photographs are by Roger Cain (NC 148). These photographs posted on 7-30-05 |
