Golden West, EAA Regional Fly-In and Air Show 2006 Held during the weekend of June 9-11, this year there were no conflicting shows in Northern CA, on the same weekend. The Experimental Aircraft Association chapters continues to keep this event going, and there were plenty of homebuilts, kitplanes and experimentals to look at, and watch fly. Weather started out clear in the morning but got slightly overcast in the afternoon, which helped to keep the temperatures down a little bit. The show opened with the Liberty Parachute Team, showcase aircraft (new planes), formation flying, and an the usual aerobatic performers. This was followed by some simulated air racing and closed by the warbird show. I made a one day visit on Saturday, and was pleased with the turnout. Unlike last years show that conflicted with Merced's Annual Fly-In, there were plenty of Classics on hand along with a few from the Antique period. There were dozens upon dozens of forums throughout the weekend, and lots of vendors selling their wares. As usual, the pictures below are just a sampling of some of the aircraft that were in attendance. There was a very nice Curtiss-Wright Travel Air on display for the first ime, and I will post it on the Reno Air Race page, where I got a better picture of it. There is text attached to all the photographs. All photographs (digital - Canon 20D) were taken by Roger Cain (SAH 2). These photographs posted on 4-03-07 |
