Clear Lake Seaplane Splash-In 2005 Held during the weekend of Sept 23-25, great weather and blue skies with calm breezes brought seaplanes and amphibians to the 26th Annual Seaplane Splash-In at Lakeport, Clear Lake CA. The Skylark Shores Resort was center of operations as it has been in past years, with lush green lawns, picnic tables and large shade trees. Over at the Natural High School's playing field where the amphibians are able to taxi out of the water, there was the welcomed addition of a food stand run by the local 4H Club serving up hotdogs, hamburgers, and drinks. With over two dozen aircraft in attendance, the different types of seapalnes and amphibians were well represented. The Grumman family was represented by an Albatross, Mallard, and Widgeon, that made nice formation passes on Saturday. Four Searey amphibians arrived this year, adding to the types of aircraft on display, that hadn't been represented in past years. Competition included spot landings and water bomb drops, seminars, raffles, and a presentation after dinner, adding to the activity of this event. Overall this was an excellent low key fly-in, that also had a safe weekend. Next years Splash-In is scheduled for Sept. 22-24, 2006.
