Travis AFB Air Expo 2005 Held during the weekend of October 15 & 16, the Air Expo had slightly windy weather (normal for the area at this time of year), but was decent otherwise. With the exception of the helicopters, and a few of the civilian-owned aircraft, all of the military aircraft on display were USAF machines. I took these pictures in the early morning, thus their not packed with people under and around them, which followed just a few hours later. The USAF Thunderbirds were the main draw for this show, but a couple of passes by the new F-22 Raptor caught a lot of attention. Other flybys and passes included the B-1B Lancer, B-2 Spirit, F-117 Nighthawk, and Travis's local heavies. The sun remains on the far side of the runway, so I didn't waste much film (remember that stuff on a roll) on the aerial show, as I knew most of the pictures would come out backlit. Chapter member Taigh Ramey (NC 492) brought John Ward's N.A. B-25 Mitchell to the show from Stockton Airport, and member William "Bill" Conwell (NC 331) brought his Beech T-34 Mentor over from San Carlos Airport (on Dec. 25, 2005, Bill passed away). Ron Strong (NC 164) and a friend of his, attended the show with me. There is text attached to all the photographs. All photographs were taken by Roger Cain (NC 148).
