New Years Day 2008 at the Schellville Aerodrome A perfect blue sky morning greeted those that arrived at Sonoma Valley Airport, known to the locals as the Schellville Aerodrome. As could be expected with the good weather, aircraft started lining up to get into the pattern and with a bit of a crosswind, it made for a few exciting landings using runways 7/25. As with past events held at this airport, George Dray hosted a very tasty barbeque in his hangar. Denis Arbeau put on a Powerpoint presentation in the backroom, featuring the aircraft of Schellville and the activities of the past year. Planes arrived and departed throughout the day and quite a few of them made nice flyovers individually and in small formations. By late afternoon high cloud cover started moving in, for the big storm that would hit Califonia hard, later in the week. I have posted just a sampling of some of the aircraft that flew into or out of Schellville for New Years Day, and have tried to avoid duplicating too many of the same planes from last years posting. There is text attached to all the photographs. All photographs (digital - Canon 20D & 30D) were taken by Roger Cain (SAH 2). These photographs posted on 1-23-08 |
