Presidents Message for November 2007 The October meeting is in the bag, and a great time was had by all who attended. We had planned the air racing panel far in advance of this year's races, and I'm sure the accidents this year dampened some people's enthusiasm for the sport. Hearing from the professionals that crew and race at Reno was insightful and quite interesting. I look forward to another racing panel in the future. By now you should have received your ballot for the society's board of directors. You are voting for the board members, and the board then selects the officers for the following year. Please put your ballot into an envelope, sign the outside, and return it to the society by the deadline, Nov. 15th. Using a separate envelope ensures a secret ballot. Please do not put your lunch reservations or other correspondence into the envelope as it is opened by the election committee, not the chapter secretary. As the year draws to a close, we're looking forward to planning 2008's expanded summer edition of Touch 'n Go. This year's issue was a huge success. If you'd like to contribute to next year's summer edition, or have an article you would like in the regular edition, please contact Betty Veronico at (650) 631-4207. We've got plenty of time before the next summer edition, so our contributors are not rushed to meet the deadline. Our Tour Coordinator, Mathew Mintz is in the process of planning tours for 2008. If you have any suggestions on where you would like to go please email Matt at matthewmintz@sbcglobal.net. (copy and paste this address, it isn't linked) Our Holiday Meeting will be December 1 at the Crowne Plaza in Foster City. Remember that we're having a holiday toy drive (see Page 5), for which the hotel provides us with a champagne toast. So please bring a teenager-suitable, unwrapped gift and enjoy the fun. December is also a great time to introduce a friend to the Society for Aviation History. We're always looking to expand our roles, and would enjoy meeting your aviation-minded friends and sharing our group and speakers with them. Let them know they can learn more about the society and our educational goals at www.sfahistory.org. The annual Board member dinner will be held on Nov. 28th. Anyone interested in attending should call the Society's office. Let me close by saying "Thank you" to everyone who participated in our meetings and tours this year. You helped make 2007 a banner year for our organization. We look forward to a very active 2008, and hope to see most of you at our meetings and tours. - Nick Veronico
