President's Message for Jan./Feb. 2016 Closing out 2015, I wanted to thank everyone for a great year. Five fantastic educational programs, five newsletters, one special edition in the summer, a great website, fun tours of the Nike site in the Marin Headlands (SF-88) and open cockpits at the Castle Air Museum, and generous contributions to the society's canned food drive and holiday toy drive. All of these events/activities were accomplished by our members for our members. I believe the Society for Aviation History provides an outstanding value for your annual $30 membership dues. Thank you to all of our members for a successful and fun 2015! Now that 2016 has begun, we're already planning a series of great educational programs, a number of outstanding tours - in the near term a tour of the Academy of Art University's Automobile Museum in San Francisco (Jan. 23) and a tour of the former Mare Island Naval Base and museum (March 19) - and some special events that are in the works. The society's annual elections saw Michael "Mike" Stein join the SAH board of directors. Please help us welcome him to the society board! Long-time board member Betty Veronico has done a tremendous job over the past decade and we are grateful for her contributions. And although no longer a member of the board of directors, Betty will continue to support the society in her on-going role as newsletter editor. Newsletter editor is a large part of the society, keeping our members connected, our events advertised, plus collecting and designing our publications. Thank you, Betty, for your years of service and your continued work on our publications and various other duties as requested by the board. Our common interest in aviation makes us members, and all of our members make up the society. Thank you for making 2015 a great year, and here's to a fantastic 2016. - Nick Veronico
