From our Touch & Go newsletter: Vol. 21, No.6 NorCal History: Did You Know? Zoom Zoom Air An interesting airfreight service started at Oakland, California in 1973, incorporating as Zoom Zoom Air. They eventually had three DC-3's with the suffix letters ZZ for Zoom Zoom. They decided soon after registering N100ZZ that Zoom Zoom sounded too childish and that a more sophisticated name was needed. The result was that the planes were painted with the name Air Charter West. I photographed N100ZZ for the first time at Oakland on 10-21-73 and it still carried its former RCAF lightning stripe and did not have a company name. When photographed again on 11-10-74 it said Air Charter West. I never saw N200ZZ but did photograph N300ZZ on 11-10-74 marked as Air Charter West. On 3-27-80 it was still at Oakland but had been changed to Transwest Air Express Contributed by William T. Larkins (NC 5)
