From our Touch & Go newsletter: Vol. 21, No. 2 NorCal History: Did You Know? This photo has a great deal of nostalgia for me for personal reasons. Three of these Royal Canadian Air Force Stranaers visited the San Francisco Coast Guard Air Station and stayed overnight before leaving. This was on November 26, 1941. I was really excited to see these and just had to get some photos but they were out in the water and not on the ramp in front of the hangar. So I finally decided to walk down the seaplane ramp and get some pictures. I got this one photo before the CG guys arrived yelling "No Photos" etc. I said "Can't I take one?" and they said "No",not knowing that I already had one shot. This was just a few days before the Pearl Harbor attack and military security was already tightening up. The Coast Guard was part of the Treasury Department in peace time but went on active duty with the Navy in wartime so was very military oriented. So here is the photo saved and presented 63 years later for you to enjoy. Contributed by William T. Larkins (NC 5)
